Privacy policy

Last updated: 22 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit pembertonwatches.com, buy from us or contact us, what we do with it, who we share it with and what your rights are. We handle your personal information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are
Pemberton Watches is a trading name of Joop Yellow Strategies. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request, email support@pembertonwatches.com.

What we collect
Information you give us:
• Your name, email address, phone number, and billing and delivery addresses
• Your order details and order history
• Messages you send us, including photos you share about an order
• Your account details, if you create an account
• Your marketing preferences

Information we collect automatically:
• Your IP address, device, browser type and approximate location
• The pages you visit, what you click and where you came to our website from
• Information from cookies, pixels and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below)

Information we get from others:
• Payment confirmation and fraud-check results from our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
• Delivery and tracking updates from our fulfilment partner and carriers
• Information from advertising and analytics partners such as Google and Meta, where you have agreed to it

Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To carry out our contract with you: processing and delivering your order, taking payment, handling cancellations, returns and refunds, and answering your questions about an order.

For our legitimate interests: preventing fraud, keeping our website secure, improving our products and service, and responding to payment disputes.

With your consent: sending marketing emails where consent is required, and setting non-essential cookies for analytics and advertising. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

To meet our legal obligations: keeping accounting and tax records and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

Marketing emails
We only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, or if you have bought from us and we are emailing you about similar products, where the law allows it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing support@pembertonwatches.com.

Who we share it with
We only share what each party needs to do its job:
• Shopify, which hosts our shop and processes orders
• Payment providers, which take and protect your payment and carry out fraud checks
• Our fulfilment partner, which packs and dispatches your order from outside the UK
• Carriers (Royal Mail and our international courier), which deliver your parcel
• Give Back Box, our returns partner, when you send an item back
• Customer service, email and tracking tools that we use to answer your messages and keep you updated
• Analytics and advertising partners, including Google and Meta, where you have agreed to cookies
• Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where needed
• Banks and card schemes, when we respond to a payment dispute
• Authorities and regulators, where the law requires it

We do not sell your personal information.

International transfers
Some of the companies we work with are based outside the UK. Our fulfilment partner is based outside the UK, and Shopify, Google and Meta process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure a legal safeguard is in place: UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguard used for a particular transfer.

Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use:
• Strictly necessary cookies, which make the website and your basket work. These are always on.
• Preference cookies, which remember your settings.
• Analytics cookies, which show us how visitors use the website.
• Advertising cookies and pixels, which measure our ads and show you relevant advertising.

Everything except strictly necessary cookies is only set once you agree through our cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page (https://pembertonwatches.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out) or in your browser settings. If you visit with the Global Privacy Control signal switched on, we treat it as a request to switch off non-essential cookies and targeted advertising for that browser.

How long we keep it
• Order and transaction records: six years from the end of the tax year they relate to, as HMRC requires.
• Customer service messages: as long as needed to resolve your question and any dispute about the order, and no longer than three years after your last order.
• Account information: while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
• Marketing information: until you unsubscribe.
• Cookie and analytics data: in line with each provider's own retention period.

Keeping it safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections, restricted access and secure systems. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours, and tell you directly if the risk is high.

Children
Our shop is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
• ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances
• ask us to restrict how we use it in certain circumstances
• object to us using it for direct marketing, at any time
• object to us using it on the basis of our legitimate interests
• ask us to transfer your information to you or another company
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To make a request, email support@pembertonwatches.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will reply within one month. There is normally no charge.
